About Petty's Mechanical Contracting
I got into the trades right out of high school in 1994, as a temporary job, until I started college for architecture. The only problem is that I liked what I was doing, so well I didn’t go to college. I had gone to work for an HVAC/Electrical contractor
and loved the work so much that I gave up on architecture and design and just started working the mechanical trades. I did not go to school for any of the trades I do now, instead I learned it all on the job and continued getting licenses as I went. I am now master licensed in 3 states for
HVAC and Electric and 2 states for plumbing. I have worked for 1 big company in Charleston WV, by the name of Al Marino Inc., where I truly began to see what business was all about. I worked for them for almost 8 years before going to work in Kentucky. I found out that Kentucky was very different from West Virginia, as far as the trades go, but excelled there as well. That is when I started getting my master licenses. I worked for a couple different HVAC companies in Kentucky and learned from them what I could, as well as, what not to do. I, then, let a company use my licenses to do business in Ashland for 3 years before deciding it was time to start my own company and use my knowledge that I had gained over the years to take care of my customers the way I wanted, instead of how I was told to. In June of 2022, I started working on getting things put together for
Petty’s Mechanical Contracting (Where one call does it all) and Home of the after hours Plumber. I want to be able to help my customers whenever they need help not just “during normal business hours”. I will go, whenever, the emergency occurs and not make my customers wait till the next business day. I am not saying I have 24 hour service all the time, but I will give 24 hour EMERGENCY SERVICE. There is a difference between emergency and non emergency in which I am sure most people would agree. I only run emergency calls after hours not regular service calls and I do not charge extra just because someone has an emergency. I don’t think that is right to take advantage of someone just because they have an emergency. That is when we are supposed to help those in need not take advantage. I will go out after hours, if someone wants to pay extra to get a service call that is non emergency, but will never take advantage of someone in need. I want to build relationships with my customers and not just get a 1 time job. I am trying to build a business for my kids to take over someday, it is a family-owned and operated business and we are family oriented and consider our customers part of our extended family. My son Taylor is working for me, he is a 22 year old with Journeyman licenses in 2 states already. My dad works part time with me as well. My wife Tonya is my dispatcher/ office manager. My daughter Brianna is a senior in high school right now and I am sure sooner or later will also be a part of the business.
